2016 - 2017 Forum


The Center for Children and Families presents our seventh annual forum on "Out of School Time: Expanding Learning Opportunities, Reducing Achievement Gaps" on Friday, January 20th, 2017. The keynote speaker is Dr. Deborah Vandell, professor of education at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Vandell is an internationally recognized, leading scholar on the effects of afterschool programs on children's social, behavioral and academic outcomes. Her research includes strategies for improving the quality of afterschool programs and youth engagement in such programs.

Where is the Forum?

This year's forum will be held at Communities Foundation of Texas (5500 Caruth Haven Lane, Dallas TX 75225)

What is the cost of the Forum?

The cost of the forum is $30 (includes light breakfast and lunch) and $10 for faculty, staff, and students of UTD (Comet Card required at check-in). Scholarship opportunities are available. Please contact ccf@utdallas.edu for more information.

Will Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) be available?

Yes. UT Dallas is an approved continuing education provider for the State of Texas through the Texas Education Agency. The forum has also been approved for continuing education (4.0 credit hours) for Social Workers, LPCs and LMFTs by the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
